Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Elementary School student Joshua Chapman led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the September 10, 2009 and September 17, 2009 school board meetings as presented.
  • Frankton Elementary School Principal Ronda Podzielinski reported on the iCARE program at Frankton Elementary.
  • Mark Finger of the Madison County Community Foundation gave a presentation on the status of a high tech high school in Madison County.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the official ADM count taken on Friday, September 18, 2009.
  • Mr. Fields reported that parent-teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, October 22nd from 1:00 – 7:30 p.m.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Katlyn House – Grade 6
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Wendy King – Grade 9
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Autumn Hopper – Grade 8
  • The Board approved the following Conflict of Interest Statements: Joanne Amick, Rob Amick, Katherine Andrews, Nathan Andrews, Kevin Barnett, Lorri Barnett, Alan Bays, Stacy Boles, Sterling Boles, Dorinda Cassiday, Richard Cassiday, Bobby Fields, Rhonda Fields, Jennifer Hoss, Jerry Hoss, Angela Howell, Jimmie Howell, Jacki Hudson, Kevin Hudson, Michele Johnson, Mike Johnson, Joe Kelich, Teresa Kelich, Nancy Likens, John Maryan, Karen Maryan, Linda Steele, Robert Steele, Andy Stewart, Stephanie Stewart, Cody Thompson, and Ginger Thompson.
  • The Board approved for the schools in the corporation to pay for supplies and equipment from the extra-curricular fund titled “General Fund” during the 2009-10 school year.
  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • $6,930.00 from Central Indiana Orthopedics for an athletic storage building
      • $1,141.14 from the J.R. White Golf Outing for the athletic department
      • $68.27 from Ohiopyle Prints, Inc. for the general account
      • $146.19 from Target through the Take Charge of Education program
      • $1,100.00 from Ginger Thompson for the girl’s tennis team
    • Lapel High School
      • $100.00 from Mr. & Mrs. David Barker for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes
      • $200.00 from Eric Lee and Gerald & Nadine Riffey for the faculty
      • $120.45 from Target through the Take Charge of Education program
      • $100.00 from Neal & Lou Whisman for the athletic department
      • $150.00 from JoAnna Collette for a jumbo cooler for the athletic department
  • The Board approved for Lapel High School to write off uncollected debt from the 2008-09 school year.
  • The Board approved to send a letter from the Board and Superintendent Bobby Fields to the Frankton-Lapel Education Association in response to Grievance 2009-01 that was filed by the Association.
  • The Board approved the following recommendation:
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Justin Coomer – 6th grade boys basketball coach
      • Kevin Guion – 8th grade girls basketball coach
      • Ken Knepp – 7th grade girls basketball coach
      • Jim Ratzlaff – 6th grade girls basketball coach
      • Darrell Richardson – 8th grade boys basketball coach
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: Minutes of the September 10, 2009 and September 17, 2009 school board meetings; and letters of appreciation to: Central Indiana Orthopedics, J.R. White Golf Outing, Ohiopyle Prints, Inc., Target, Ginger Thompson, Mr. & Mrs. David Barker, Eric Lee and Gerald & Nadine Riffey, Neal & Lou Whisman, and JoAnna Collette. Also, Conflict of Interest Statements by Board President Alan Bays.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • October 29-30, 2009: Fall Break – No School
    • November 12, 2009: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
