  • The Board approved the minutes from the May 8, 2014 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board held a lottery for transfer students without legal settlement to determine which students would be admitted for the 2014-15 school year.
  • Lapel High School varsity football coach Tim Miller presented to the Board a proposal to build a locker room at Lapel High School to be funded by the Lapel Optimist Quarterback Club.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the waiver from the State for the lost instructional days due to weather in January 2014.
  • Mr. Fields gave a report reviewing the school corporation goals for 2013-14 and how the corporation fared in accomplishing the goals.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims for May 2014.
  • The Board approved a new tuition policy and application.

  • Each year the school corporation purchases a clock for employees who retire.  Mara-Le Quarles and Larry Schuler have requested that the school corporation give the money that would have been spent on the clock to the following school organizations:

      • Dollars for Scholars
    • Lapel High School (Schuler)

  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    • Lapel High School boy’s varsity basketball team to a basketball camp at Northwood University in Michigan on June 13-14, 2014 
    • Lapel High School yearbook staff to Josten’s art memory book facility in Clarksville, Tennessee on July 31-August 2, 2014 
    • Lapel High School band to New York City and Boston, Massachusetts to perform in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 12-16, 2015. 
    • The Board approved the federal school nutrition program with the Department of Education for 2014-15.
    • The Board approved the following Lapel  boys basketball summer camps:
    • June 6-8, 2014 to Carmel High School for the United States Sports and Fitness Association (USSFA) Small School Tournament
    • June 18, 2014 to Caston High School for a one day shootout
    • June 20-22, 2014 to the United States Sports and Fitness Association (USSFA)    Large School Tournament hosted at Carmel High School, Warren Central High School, and North Central High School
  • The Board approved a new time schedule for all schools for the 2014-15 school year.

        • Ashley Andryuk – Grade 1 teacher, at the end of the 2013-14 school year, 5 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the renewal of contracts for the Assistant Superintendent, Principals, Assistant Principals, Athletic Directors, Directors, and Administrative Assistants July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
    • The following documents were signed by Board members:  Minutes of the May 8, 2014 school board meeting; administrator contracts; letters of appreciation to LES Parent Teacher Group, Pendleton First United Methodist Church, Mara-Le Quarles, and Larry Schuler; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
