Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School students Matti Selby and Damon Partington led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes for the February 11, 2016 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for March.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported to the Board on the sale of bonds for the school corporation.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims for February 2016.
  • The Board approved the age 4 pre-school/extended care fees for 2016-17.
  • The Board approved the following fund raising activities:

      • Students of Service

  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Lapel Elementary
      • $21,000.00 from the LES Parent-Teacher Group for chromebooks
      • $2,225.00 from the LES Parent-Teacher Group for K-5 math sets
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state basketball camps for the Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School boys basketball team:
    • June 10-12, 2016: Lipscomb University, Nashville, Tennessee
    • June 16-18, 2016: Michigan State University
  • The Board approved a request by Lapel High School physics teacher John Maryan to declare as surplus two pieces of equipment that have never been used and to sell the equipment.
  • The Board approved the following students who moved out of the district for transfer tuition for 2015-16:
    • Frankton Elementary
      • Jay Dillmon – grade 5
    • Lapel Elementary
      • Ella Carlile – kindergarten
      • Mason Johnson – grade 5
    • Lapel Middle
      • Julienne Carlile – grade 6
  • The Board approved for the Frankton Coaches Pitch Baseball League to use 2 Frankton-Lapel school buses to transport players to an Indianapolis Indians game.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip requests:
    • Lapel High School varsity baseball team members and coaches to Clarksville, Tennessee on April 7-9, 2016
    • Lapel High School students to Kings Island, Ohio for Post Prom on May 1, 2016
  • The Board approved to re-appoint Greg Fisher to the Anderson City, Anderson, Stony Creek and Union Townships Public Library Board of Trustees for another 4-year term beginning April 1, 2016.
  • The Board approved a contract between Frankton-Lapel Community Schools and Hillcroft Services to transport a student.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Katie Coryell – Girls tennis coach
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Troy Willis – Softball coach
  • The Board approved the following resignation:
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • Margie Sturgeon – Grade 3 teacher, as of March 2, 2016, 18 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the following retirements:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Carla Copeland – Kindergarten teacher, at the end of the 2015-16 school year, 30 years of service to FLCS
    • Lapel High School
      • Marianne Julius – Guidance Counselor, at the end of the 2015-16 school year, 39 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Board Member Mike Rusche reported to the Board on the Academic Hall of Fame Banquet and the Madison County Choral Festival.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the February 11, 2016 school board meeting; letter of appreciation to the LES Parent-Teacher Group; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing. Also, Certificate of Appointment-Public Library Board Member by Mrs. Davis.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • March 14, 2016: Flex Day
    • March 24, 2016: Kindergarten & Age 4 Pre-school Round Up at Frankton & Lapel Elementary Schools, 2:00-6:00 p.m.
    • April 1, 2016: No School
    • April 4-8, 2016: Spring Break
    • April 21, 2016: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
