  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School state champion boys’ basketball team members Ethan Bates, Brayton Cain, Sabastian Davis, Rylan Detling, Keegan Freestone, Cole Garner, Andrew Hartley, Jon Hatzell, Kayden Key, Maurice Knight, Colt Litsey, Jaxen McCorkle, Travis McGuire, Ben Smith, Patrick Spillman, Landon Weins, Will Whatley, and Mitchell Wiley led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the March 9, 2017 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School which provided the information on the bulletin board for April.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the health insurance claims for March 20167
  • Mr. Fields reported on the school schedule for the end of the 2016-17 school year.
  • The Board approved a request by Geep Harrison, President of the Frankton Coaches Pitch League, to use 2 school buses to go to an Indianapolis Indians game.
  • The Board approved a declaration of no value for a set of risers that Lapel Elementary School no longer needed so the school can dispose of them.

  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    • Frankton Elementary School 6th grade students to Cincinnati, Ohio on May 5, 2017.
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School varsity boys basketball team to Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee on June 7-10, 2017.
    • Lapel Middle School 8th grade students to Washington, D.C. on May 11-12, 2017.
  • The Board approved the science and health textbook recommendations for 2017-18 through 2022-23.
  • The Board approved to designate Superintendent Bobby Fields and Special Education Director Debbie Johnson as having the authority to sign Indiana Department of Education agreements for alternative and private residential school placements as the designees for the President and Secretary of the School Board.
  • The Board approved the following students for transfer tuition who moved out of the district in 2016-17:

  • The Board approved the following resignation:

      • Amber Cole – Nurse, at the end of the 2016-17 school year, 10½ years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the following retirement:

      • Rebecca DeShaney – English teacher, at the end of the 2016-17 school year, 15 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the March 9, 2017 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to FES Parent Club, Optimist Club of Lapel, Wright Family Practice, Lapel American Legion Post 212, Troy & Lynn Vogt, First United Methodist Church Ministries, and Harvest Land Co-op; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing. Also, Authorization to Sign Agreements for Alternative Services and Private Residential School Placements by Board President Brian Gill and Board Secretary Joanne Amick.
