Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Members of the Frankton Elementary School Robotics Club, Thaiden Alexander, Sam Barr, Max Barr, Blayke Lindsay, Braedey Martin, Reese Ray, and Carter Wachs led the Pledge of Allegiance. 
    • The club members and teacher Matt Weisman reported to the Board on their recent competitions and demonstrated how their robots worked.
  • The Board approved the minutes for the February 9, 2017 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Elementary School which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for March.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the state funding for 2017.
  • Mr. Fields reported to the Board on the voluntary lead sampling program for Indiana public schools.
  • Mr. Fields updated the Board on the solar energy project.  The Board approved to publish a Request for Qualifications of Energy Service Providers.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims for February 2017.
  • The Board approved the age 4 pre-school/extended care fees for 2017-18.

  • The Board approved to employ Alma to provide a new student information management system.
  • The Board approved the following resignation:

      • Tina Phillips – Guidance Counselor, as of May 31, 2017, 2 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the following retirements:

      • Greg Ritz – Social Studies/P.E. teacher, at the end of the 2016-17 school year, 34 years of service to FLCS
    • Lapel High School
      • Mark Boudrot – History/Government teacher, at the end of the 2016-17 school year, 30 years of service to FLCS
      • Jerry Kemerly – English teacher, at the end of the 2016-17 school year, 45 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles reported on the restructuring of the technology department.  The Board approved the restructure and approved to hire needed personnel.
  • Mr. Fields and Corporation Attorney Mike Lacey updated the Board on the gift of farm ground/real estate to the school corporation from the estate of Jerry Cunningham.  The Board approved to accept the gift and to pay the mortgage due on the land.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: 
    • Minutes of the February 9, 2017 school board meeting; letter of appreciation to the CAPE, William & Patricia Hocker, and Bette Ackerman; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
