Mission Statement
The Frankton-Lapel High Ability program serves students kindergarten through 12th grade and provides enriched learning opportunities as well as development socially and emotionally, allowing students to become a well rounded individual leading productive and fulfilling lives.
High Ability Definition
High ability students shall be identified from Cogat data, NWEA data, and teacher input.
- Perform or show potential with outstanding achievement in one or more academic domains, math, reading/language arts, or general intellect;
- Are capable of developing these talents, gifts, and interests
- And will be provided with specialized, differentiated curriculum and instruction within the regular classroom, access to different non-traditional classrooms and/or services to meet the individual needs of the student.
Per Indiana Code (IC 20-36-1-3)
"High ability student" means a student who: (1) performs at or shows the potential for performing at an outstanding level of accomplishment in at least one (1) domain when compared with other students of the same age, experience, or environment; and (2) is characterized by exceptional gifts, talents, motivation, or interests.
